Composting program at SEPCON: From initiative to Institutional Standard

Two years after its implementation, the Gaicashi methodology consolidates the SEPCON composting program

An initiative born in the Kinteroni project, today extended to all the company’s operations.

 

Lima, Peru — March 30, 2026

In April 2024, during the execution of the Kinteroni steel pile retaining walls project, SEPCON developed and implemented the Gaicashi methodology for the first time. This aerobic composting system was designed to process organic waste generated on site and convert it into high-quality compost. Two years later, the initiative has become one of the company’s most representative environmental management practices.

The methodology combines inoculation with effective microorganisms, molasses, and sawdust, enabling accelerated decomposition without generating unpleasant odors, vectors, or leachate. During the Kinteroni project, the client’s supervision formally recognized the practice as a positive aspect in its inspection report, highlighting its differentiation from other techniques applied in Lot 57.

Following this recognition, SEPCON expanded the methodology across its operations. Today, Gaicashi forms part of the sustainable management standards implemented in all the company’s projects, with measurable results: more than 30,000 kg of compost generated and over 22,000 kg donated to local communities.

The compost produced is delivered to communities near the operating areas, contributing to soil regeneration, agricultural recovery, and the completion of a circular process between project activities and the surrounding environment. For SEPCON, the program represents a concrete example of how sustainable management can transition from a declared commitment to a measurable and sustained practice.
