Gas Compression in Incahuasi Field

EPC project developed at the Incahuasi Processing Plant, in the Central Bolivian Cordillera, aimed at extending the productive life of one of the most relevant gas fields in the country. The implemented solution incorporates a new medium pressure compression system that allows to reduce the pressure of entry to the plant and sustain production levels against the natural decline of the reservoir.

Extending the Life of a Mature Field

The Incahuasi field is one of Bolivia's most important gas production assets. Incahuasi began its natural decline in 2022, going from a capacity of 11 million SM³/day to a current production of 7.3 million. Sustaining that level required interventions in the plant, not the wells.

The solution consisted of reassigning one of the export compressors to low pressure service, located upstream of the process train. This change of configuration—from Parallel compressors to a serial alignment—reduced inlet pressure and eliminated bottlenecks, without the need to modify existing heat exchange trains.
